Question by 4 In A Row (#48JJFan): How did you like the battle at the end of the Richmond race?
Who did you honestly think would win, Jimmie or Tony?

Why do you suppose Tony raced Jimmie so cleanly? Don’t misunderstand. I don’t think Tony is any kind of dirty driver, but I expected some kind of bump and run. It’s part of racing.

Stewart should have won. Both of them were securely in the chase,
so he should have taken Johnson out.

What do you think? Answer below!

I loved it, it was a good race! I expected to see Tony get a little more aggressive at the end but it didn’t happen! It was kind of a toss up as to who I thought would win cause Jimmie wanted to bonus points and Tony just needs a win, but all in all Jimmie winning is what I expected he’s really came to life here lately, maybe a three peat is in the works!

I thought it was great. Talk about hard racing :D I thought Jimmie would win it because that’s just the way he has been racing lately. No offense to Tony, he’s the only Gibbs driver I like. I can understand his frustration after the race when they showed him in his car, I mean, he was so close.

I enjoyed it but would have enjoyed it more if Tony had won. Tony had no choice but to race him cleanly as he never really got himself into a position to bump and run. I thought Tony had him at first but after a few laps I realized that Tony was using his tires up and the race was pretty well over..

Tony run one of his best races this year.Looked like he was going to get the win.But the slight error in the pits cost him.

Jimmie all the way. There’s was never a doubt in my mind that he wouldn’t win. I did expect Tony to do something though but he knows better than to mess with 2 time defending Champ.

There was a WHOLE lotta screaming!!
7 people in one living room on the edge of our seats, some couldn’t even stay on their seats, that was some good racing.
We were waiting for the “bump and run” too.

Congrats on Jimmie’s win, sorry to say all 7 of us wanted Tony to win though, lol..

I knew Jimmie was gonna win this race last week! He is on fire, I think they (Chad and Jimmie) finally got it together and is ready to go “3 straight in 08″, as far as Tony, he has great respect of JGR and just wants to get this year over with and get on with his own team.
    GO JOHNSON GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It was a great race. The end was exactly what I love about racing. Good hard driving. I think Jimmie was expecting the bump N run and that is why he stayed high and left Tony to have the bottom line. Jimmie was thinking ahead and anticipating the bump from Stewart so he stayed away from him, then Jimmie just pulled away from him and that was that. Fun race.

Good race, but Tony should have used his bumper.

I hate to admit this but I missed the race. I did however go back and see the clips on NASCAR.com and watched parts of the race. The battle did look clean and I know Tony has had enough bad luck that when he’s in second it would make more sense to race clean than to take a chance and wreck both himself and Jimmie.

I honestly thought that Tony’s car would slowly pull away from Jimmie’s based on Toyota’s horsepower advantage throughout the year. The thing that you can say about Jimmie Johnson and Chad Knaus is you can never underestimate them and you can expect more from them when the chase rolls around. They are going to “up-it-a-notch” whenever the chase starts. No big surprise there.

Tony Stewart has never been a dirty driver as far as I can remember. He got a bad rap during a Talladega or Daytona race a few years back but it wasn’t his fault. That wasn’t his fault though. Jeff Burton nudged Tony Stewart into the car in front of him and then got on his radio and said “Did you see that? He tried to run over the guy”…!!! Jeff did that to take the focus off of him nudging Tony. It worked because everyone was bad mouthing Tony but I wasn’t.

Bet you lost your voice from all the shouting and jumping up and down didn’t you?

I really enjoyed the finish. Was hoping #20 would pull it off….but knew #48 would pull it off, car just looked too tough. I think there is alot of respect between the two despite being sponsored by bitter rivals (Lowes and Home Depot). I would love to have seen some bumping but wasn’t surprised that we didn’t.
