More than 1900 students from Byron Nelson High School in Trophy Club provided Johnson with an energetic sendoff before he begins his quest for his sixth consecutive Sprint Cup championship this weekend at Chicagoland Speedway. Johnson was greeted to a true Texas football pep rally complete with the dance team, cheerleaders, band, “blue man” and mascot as part of NASCAR’s “Chase Across America.” Johnson stormed out to the gym floor, breaking through the sign held by the students, with students chanting his name. He addressed the students about the work he has put into becoming one of the greatest drivers in the sport. “The thing that led me through it all and led me to my career path was a passion and desire to follow my dreams,” Johnson said. “There is something in there that is leading you down a certain road for what your career is going to be and the type of person you are going to be in your life.
